You've studied the grammar. You've learned hundreds — perhaps thousands — of words. You can read a menu, understand a news article and complete a grammar exercise.

 Then someone in Portugal speaks to you at full speed.

 And suddenly, your Portuguese disappears.

 You know what you want to say, but you can't find the words quickly enough. You translate in your head. You hesitate. You worry about making mistakes. And before you've finished constructing your sentence, the conversation has already moved on.

Fala Português – Intensive Conversation Course is designed for that moment.

 It's an intensive, one-to-one conversation programme in European Portuguese, designed to help you turn the Portuguese you already know into Portuguese you can actually use. 

During the intensive course, you'll work on:

 

- speaking with greater fluency, speed and confidence

- answering without translating every sentence in your head

- using vocabulary actively rather than simply recognizing it

- understanding natural European Portuguese at normal conversational speed

- using everyday colloquial expressions

- identifying and correcting recurring mistakes

- making your Portuguese sound more natural rather than simply grammatically correct

 Most importantly, you'll spend a concentrated period actually speaking Portuguese without any pressure in monitored conversations with a native.

Why conversation?

 

Because knowing Portuguese and speaking Portuguese are different skills.

 

You won't learn to swim just by reading about swimming.

 

And you won't become comfortable speaking Portuguese just by studying another vocabulary list.

 

At some point, you have to get in the water.

 

Many learners have plenty of passive knowledge but surprisingly little opportunity to use it. Perhaps you live outside Portugal. Perhaps your Portuguese friends switch to English. Perhaps you've been learning for years but still feel that your spoken Portuguese doesn't reflect what you know.

 

“Fala Português” gives you the missing ingredient: concentrated, personalised speaking practice.

How does it work?

Every course is tailored to your level, needs and preferences, following these steps:

1-Preparation

Before the first session, you’ll be given vocabulary and expressions to be used in the conversation. Rather than only isolated words, you'll also learn useful phrases, example sentences and common combinations.

2-GUIDED CONVERSATION

You won’t simply be thrown into a conversation but helped along a guided dialogue or structured speaking activity. The “training wheels” for your speaking ability.

3-FREE CONVERSATION

The “training wheels” are gradually removed. It’s time to talk. The vocabulary list is there if you need it.

4 - REVIEW, CORRECT AND REFORMULATE

At the end of the session, you won’t simply hear: “Here are your mistakes. See you tomorrow”. Instead, you’ll work with your tutor on the Portuguese you actually produced.

5 - RECORD, LISTEN AND REPEAT

Every conversation is recorded. After the session, you’ll be able to listen to your conversation, note your mistakes and apply the tutor’s corrections.

  • It’s an intensive course, but what constitutes intensive is up to you. 5 consecutive days, 5 sessions with a day’s interval for reflexion, practice and study, you decide.

  • Ideally, you should have a general knowledge of A2 grammar and vocabulary.

  • You won't become fluent overnight, but you will learn to use the Portuguese you already know and improve on it. You may become faster at finding the words you need. You may start recognising expressions you've heard dozens of times. You may stop making the same mistake automatically. You may become less afraid of not knowing a word. And you may find yourself having a conversation that, a week earlier, you would have avoided.

  • One day, perhaps, but that’s not the goal. The goal is speaking more confident, more spontaneous, more usable Portuguese.

The course includes personalised access to the tutor, via email or direct message, to answer any questions you may have (with a reply within 24 hours at the latest).
